Just in case you didnt hear about it, MTU was named 7th most wired campus by PC Magazine. This was posted back in Dec 06 but I am not sure many heard and I thought a nice repost wouldnt hurt. I think its kind of cool that we were in PC Mag. Oh well…

I really think someone needs to make more comics like this about MTU. I really really miss this sort of stuff. The comic below is basically what its like every year due to freshman calling home/girlfriend/everyone else and no one is able to get a signal due to the limited cell towers.

So I am stuck in Houghton for the summer. I will try to update when I can but as you can see I have been a little relaxed on posting since I’ve been way to busy. I always accept any submissions and post damn close to anything related to MTU or Houghton (pending it deals with students).

I’m impressed. MTU has a youtube account to upload videos about MTU. It makes perfect sense, I just wish they would have done it sooner! Here is a sample of one of the videos they have uploaded. Its the preview day video. “WE ARE MICHIGAN TECH!!!”

MUB Pizza = BAD

I just had the MUB pizza today and it was definitely a piece of cardboard. Now I did have the cheese and to be fair I dont know how the others taste but that cheese pizza was quite possibily one of the worst. I think I may have eaten a better piece of cardboard, when this happened is the question… Either way you think they could put just a little more sauce on the thing and hold the grease… Look at my lovely meal to the right… YUMMM!!!

April Snow Storm

So we are predicted to get about 4 to 6 inches of snow and by the results of today I say we are well on our way to that goal.

I was leaving Applebee’s tonight and saw a few police cars coming up the highway and was trying to figure out where they were heading when I noticed a car sitting in the snow. The amazing part is how did it end up there. It just shows you that even the UP is not that great at driving in snowy conditions even though the snow lasts and is more intense then lots of other places in the U.S.

At least thats the vibe I was getting all last week as I saw tons of cars driving around with the tickets still stuck in the windshield of the car. It must be just a spring think since the only time I really notice any of this stuff is in the spring, and the ticket guys dont really like to walk around in the cold. I dont want to jinx myself but I haven’t got a ticket in the 4 years I have been here so it must not be that hard to avoid. I hear they add them to your tuition so that you either can’t get your diploma when you graduate or you they wont let you graduate. I am not sure how accurate it all is but still funny to think about.

Stand Up for Disabilities

I am not sure if they should have used this same name for the event. I mean I like the cause but the name doesnt seem to fit the bill. The posters themselves like to make fun of the situation. There is a kid in a wheel chair with people standing next to him. I think it almost makes fun of people in wheel chairs… I don’t know what I would name it but i am not so sure i would have a standathon. Either way I’m glad the event went well.

For those of you not familiar with the event I have this next information from the Bay Cliff Health Camp…

The Residence Life at Michigan Tech University is pleased to inform you of a new event on campus–Standup for Disabilities. The purpose of this event is to make the students and community in the Keweenaw District more knowledgeable about the difference they can make in the Upper Peninsula. The event encourages students to collect pledges from family members and friends, based on how many hours the student stands for the duration of the event. All pledges will be donated to Bay Cliff Health Camp, a summer therapy center located in Marquette County, serving physically disabled children throughout the Upper Peninsula and Northern Lower Michigan.
